Lover Eternal

by JR Ward (Black Dagger Brotherhood-2)

Synopsis:

Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He’s the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover—for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Possessed by this dark side, Rhage fears the times when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.
Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships, is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant on Rhage’s protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. Her faith in miracles was lost years ago. But when Rhage’s intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional, he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves…

I loved this story. Ms. Ward is adept at bringing together the love and joy as well as the bitter heartbreak of these complicated relationships. I didn't get the tortured hero vibe from Rhage in the first book. He seemed more like a pretty boy jerk to me. Not a very sympathetic character. I liked Mary, but was wary at first as it looked like she was going to be a whiny patsy. But as it turned out, she was a woman blessed with a well of inner strength and resolve. Rhage turned out to be someone who needed to give love and to nurture as much or more than he needed to be loved and nurtured. I teared up in several places. Just about every scene with John Matthew was a winner for me. I particularly liked the scene when he was to dine with Tohr and Wellsie. I cried, at his overwhelming response to the tiniest amount of care. I believe I'm going to love him, and Bella too. I already love Z, who is next in line for his own story.

This is a solid 4.5 stars for me. I would have liked more humorous interplay between the "Brothers" for this to make it to a 5. (Though the scene with Butch and Rhage in the shower was pretty good. ~~~~~~~~~~Oops. I'm back, my mind was wandering to 2 wet/handsome men.)

Check out this series.

The Red-Hot Cajun

The long hot Louisiana summer just got hotter for Rene LeDeux. He's burned out by D.C. politics and only wants to build his cabin in peace. But if his wacky, matchmaking great-aunt has her way, Bayou Black's prodigal son will be hitched before he can say butt-naked! That honor goes to Valerie "Ice" Breaux, Rene's high school nemesis turned Trial TV anchor, who's been abducted by Rene's activist friends.

Mon Dieu! It's bad enough being kidnapped and having her power suit ride up her thighs. Did she have to land in the lap of the most irritating, sexiest hunk she's ever laid her eyes on? Now Val's stranded in Rene's remote cabin, besieged by irrepressible LeDeux relations, not to mention a dingbat duo out to save the swamp.

It's a heat wave, guar-an-teed! Val vows she'll give her heart to the Cajun bad boy when alligators fly. Rene swears to get the girl who got away. It's never been steamier in the bayou than with two people this red-hot with desire... and more than ready for love.

I really enjoyed this book! It was "hotter" than I prefer. The story, and characters were great! The fun was abundant, and that was a clincher for me. I read this out of order, which chaps my hide! But, c'est la vie! I'll be reading more Sandra Hill, and hopefully in order. woo hoo!!

Kiss an Angel

Wedding Day

Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail ormarry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don't happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?

Alex Markov, as humorless as he is deadly handsome, has no intention of playing the loving bridegroom to a spoiled little featherhead with champagne tastes. He drags Daisy from her uptown life to a broken down traveling circus and sets out to tame her to his ways.

But this man without a soul has met his match in a woman who's nothing but heart. Before long, passion will send them flying sky high without a safety net...risking it all in search of a love that will last forever. Pretty, flighty Daisy Devereaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don't happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?

I love this book! I love the characters. I felt their pain, and their joys. I appreciated her spunk and determination to not give up. I loved the secondary characters, especially Tater and Sinjun!! I'd read it again and again.

The Love Potion

Yep! Fame and fortune are surely only a swallow away when Dr Sylvie Fontaine discovers a chemical formula guaranteed to attract the opposite sex. Though her own love life is purely hypothetical, the shy chemist's professional future is assured...as soon as she can find a human guinea pig.

The only problem is the wrong man has swallowed Sylvie's love potion. Bad boy Lucien LeDeux is more than she can handle even before he's dosed with the Jelly Bean Fix. The wildly virile lawyer is the last person she'd choose to subject to the scientific method.

When the dust settles, Sylvie and Luc have the answers to some burning questions--Can a man die of testosterone overload? Can a straight-laced female lose every single one of her inhibitions?--and they learn that old-fashioned romance is still the best catalyst for love.

I enjoyed this book a lot! Sandra Hill has a knack for writing believable characters who have issues as well as humor. I love feeling their history and seeing how it affects their decisions! I love the humor, and the fun secondary characters. Tante Lulu and Samson & Delilah! The book was fast paced for me, and I couldn't put it down. The Love scenes were Hot! I personally prefer warm, but it was ok with me, cuz they weren't every few pages. (That's just me!) I can't wait to read the rest of these Cajuns!!
